| Good evening fellow bloggers! Great to see you all tonight, especially you. Life in the great, vast, sandy craphole I'm in is good. It's nice and hot, I'm getting a great farmers tan, and in the evenings I get to sleep in a tent! WooHoo!!! But it's not all bad, really. I am starting to have a little more time on my hands, so I'm hitting the weight room and I hope to gain back a little of the weight I've lost since I've been here. Only this time it'll be muscle.
However, the one thing I truly look forward to at the end of my day is sitting down and having the privilege of talking to Jess. Whether it be on the internet, or on the crappy phones, Jess makes a bad day good and a good day great. Especially when I see her on the webcam in a hoody with her hair up.
Jess, you are my saving grace. And I truly think you've helped me keep my sanity while I'm in sunny beautiful Kuwait. I count the hours until I think you'll be home, and I'm absolutely floored every time I see you. Jess, you mean so much to me, and I don't know what I would do if I didn't see you in July.
That's all for now, folks. Until next time, "Keep it real, keep it nice. Keep it real nice."
| WOW it was hot today! Entry number two, I'm on a role here. I never thought I'd get deployed and actually be on the internet more often than back home. Of course that's not saying much since I don't have a computer back home.
Anyway, it was freakin' hot today. One of those days that you just sit there doing next to nothing and you can feel the sweat rolling down your back. Thank God for cold water and occasional shade. I fear that the heat is here to stay, though. No more of this 110 degrees one day and 85 the next.
Our batallion had a little ceremony today. A bunch of soldiers, including myself, were recognized and given a coin from our higher up's Colonel. I didn't really think I'd done anything special in the past couple months. But apparently doing my job to the best of my abilities was good enough. There were some soldiers there that, in my opinion, didn't deserve the recognition. But I'll save that gripe for another entry.
Things are going great with Jess. Jess, if you're reading this-you're wonderful. You're the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. And I cannot wait until July finally arrives.
I think that's about all for now. I don't want to talk too much the army might think I'm giving away secrets. Until next time, "Leave sooner, drive slower, live longer!" (I read that on a banner hanging from a fence here in Kuwait.)
| Today marks the completion of the fifth month I have been deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Rigth now all is well, and I hope it only gets better. Thankfully I've spent all of my time in sunny beautiful Kuwait. And if any fellow soldiers are reading this, don't bag on me for being in Kuwait. I didn't choose to be here, this is where they sent me. And besides, without me doing my job here, you wouldn't have any bullets.
As the days get warmer, they also seem to go by slower. It seems like forever before I will be sitting at home on leave, sipping an ice cold budweiser and enjoying the company of friends and family. And if all goes well, when that time comes I might just be getting a visit from a certain girl in Indiana. All I can do until then is pray that the Lord grants me the patience to endure these next few months. Thankfully I have the internet, and that combined with many great talks with friends and family has helped the past days turn into months. Hopefully they will continue to do so.
